Offerings for bookstores, libraries, groups

A warm, fun, and informative ‘Meet the Author’ event for bookstores, libraries or book clubs.

This can be a simple meet-and-greet and discussion, and/or I can bring my entertaining 30-minute audiovisual slide deck about my research for the book. (This plugs into a TV monitor or a projector and screen.) I’m also very comfortable with an unstructured Q&A.

Host a ‘Get Lost in France’ event. This includes an author presentation of 30 minutes with a slide show and Q&A; playful book-themed props for Instagrammers; free Lost in France bookmarks, and book signing. The whole event lasts 1.5 hours.

Join Claire Ross Dunn for a 2-hour, 10-step session on how to write a romance novel.

We’ll look at several systems for breaking either books or movies (Jessica Brody’s Save the Cat Writes a Novel, Billy Mernit’s Writing the Romantic Comedy, and Gwen Hayes’ Romancing the Beat), and use Rachel Reid’s wildly popular book Heated Rivalry as a case study to help you structure your next romance novel or refine the one you’re working on now.

All levels of writing experience are welcome for this fun workshop. A workshop fee includes a signed copy of Lost in France.

This engaging workshop is one part writing—I’ll help you come up with a micro-sized story for your zine (or bring one with you, the choice is yours)—and one part craft: draw, colour or découpage your way to a physical book you ‘publish’ in less than two hours. Unplug from the world (as Marlow and Sabine do in the novel), while making new friends and chatting about Lost in France with the author. The fee covers all materials for the workshop, and a copy of the book. The workshop lasts 1.5 hours.

Banish writer’s block. Silence your inner critic whispering that your writing is not polished, funny, or good enough. This is not about that—this is about writing for the sheer joy of it. Join me for a 1.5-hour workshop where we put pen to paper (yes, we’re kicking it old school—that’s part of the point) for short writing stints to prompts. We’ll share our writing and provide positive, strengths-based feedback. No experience required. 0% judgment and prep, 100% fun. You might even leave with a new idea or two!

Please contact me to discuss hosting any of these offerings in your bookshop or library, with your book club or writing group, in person or on Zoom.
